This might have been my official entry into woo woo. I wish I could remember the book I got my hands on in Boulder in my early twenties. (I think it might be Wheels of Life by Anodea Judith) It was BIG. I remember it being cumbersome to lug to the river to read it. But what I really remember was the feeling of knowing that it was all true. Which is strange if you think about it. It was my introduction to colored wheels down the middle of everyones’ bodies…I never doubted it.
However, the visualization of these colored wheels did not come naturally to me. Just like any visualization exercise, it takes effort and repetition. Seeing your legs and butt as red, and then have it morph into orange as it travels into your reproductive system and yellow as it rises into your gut, and blooms like an Irish field into the vastness of your heart chakra and turns blue as it funnels up through your throat, ears and darkens into purple in your head and up and out the top of your head…
But, I’ve had a relationship with my chakras ever since I read that book. My 5th chakra is the loudest. It’s in the throat, mouth, ears. So communication…I have had endless different health problems in that area, from teeth to throat (got my tonsils taken out, didn’t change anything), ear infections, and the constant one: jaw clenching. I do it at night, and I catch myself doing it in the daytime too.
The other chakra that makes me nuts is my 2nd chakra: reproductive organs, hips, sex. Had hip surgery–They still hurt.
The combo of 2nd and 5th chakra is related to creativity, which makes sense when you dive deeper into their “roles.” The impetus for creativity would come from something more intuitive and shared down in 2nd chakra land, but you have to get it out through the 5th chakra. So, they both have to be working together for you to say, make a piece of art or…write a blog.
My most successful meditation technique has been to do a chant with each chakra. Kind of like humming. I visualize the red one starting with my feet touching the floor and on up. I can’t quite get to the image of the spinning colored wheels, but I do sort of feel that color in that part of my body. I’m starting to try to listen to what those parts of my body might be saying to me. I find that if I ask my “intuition” it will sometimes immediately respond, like it was waiting for me to ask. Other days, I get nothing.
